A Bit About Us

About Us:

The Lawilowan American Indian Festival (LAIF) began in 2007. And in addition, Muddy Run Powwow was established in 2009. These two Powwows occur in two different locations of south-central Pennsylvania. Firstly Laif is in March at Shippensburg University, Shippensburg, PA. In September, the Muddy Run Powwow is at the Steam-O-Rama grounds, Windsor, PA. We would like to introduce and educate the general public about the vast array of Native American Cultures. We have been very fortunate. To have built some excellent relationships with exceptional drummers/singers, dancers, artisans, flute players, and Masters of Ceremonies from all across the United States. We rely on their shared knowledge of our Native American community to promote awareness and the education of Native American Culture. We want to invite everyone to come and celebrate our living and evolving traditions. For more information, check out our history page

Our Mission:

Our Mission Is to share, promote and educate the community about the Native American Culture, traditions, and heritage through drumming, song, dance, storytelling, and flute playing. It is essential to encourage our elders and youth to come together. This combination is how our Powwow culture will live on for future generations.
